A little about me
I started this blog for an assignment for my CTER class, Computers Uses In Education. The CTER program is a Masters in Teaching from the University of Illinois. I completed my undergrad at U of I in art education, and even though I now live in Colorado I am enrolled again at U of I in an online learning program.
This fall will be my fifth year teaching art, and my second year at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. I love FFCHS not only because the faculty and students are great, but the opportunities the district has given me.
I enjoy being the department chair of a visual arts program that has grown from one teacher to four in three years. I also appreciate that the adminstration is letting me start my own classes- Digital Photography and Graphic Design to add to my already awesome darkroom for Black and White Photography.
Besides teaching, I love to rock climb (sport) and boulder. My favorite places in the US are: Rifle Mountain Park, Hueco Tanks, New River Gorge, Jackson Falls, and the Red River Gorge…oh and RMNP.
Sometimes I wish I could just be a climbing bum, but I like the luxuries of living in a house and smelling nice. I also love my Santa Cruz mountain bike. Living in the mountains in Colorado Springs has opened my eyes, and lungs, to high altitude climbing.. on a bike. I love pushing my mind and body to the limits.
I couldn’t do all these fun things without my fiancee and climbing partner, Robb. We are getting married next summer. Robb helps me overcome my fears and reassures me that I can do anything I put my mind to.
